Greenland will take you by surprise. Not only by the views and fresh fish, but also by the taste of beer. Country offers regular load of Carlsbergs and Tuborgs, but one can also find few gems hidden under local breweries.
The Other Me spotted one from our hotel window under name of Godthaab Bryghus (http://bryggeriet.gl). Restaurant / pub is located centrally in the city, near by the Old Town. Interior brings back old pub feeling, with two big beer tanks brought from Germany, quirky tools on the walls, but local beer is offered from the tab. Change of cook was a smart move, because the food was delicious. But I will not talk about excellence of grilled fish. Beer is the topic.
My favourite one was Eric the Red, with the alcohol percentage between 4.80 and 5.09%, brewed locally, of course. Total brewing process takes 5 weeks. It has actually nice reddish colour brought by a malt variety called CaraRed, including Amber malt with addition of honey (added during brewing process).
Beer is served in two sizes: kid size (half pint) and The Other Me size (pint).
Other types of beer also landed on Mastergold Clasic, Godthaab Muskusbajer and Godthaab Classis.
